Alex Scott shares her love for Jess Glynne and navigates career challenges

In an interview, BBC sports presenter Alex Scott opens up about her deep affection for singer Jess Glynne while facing professional hurdles.

In a recent interview with The Times, BBC sports presenter Alex Scott expressed her deep affection for her girlfriend, singer Jess Glynne, as they navigate their life together. The couple, who have been dating for more than a year, have often been described as having “become the same person” since they moved in together, an affectionate comment that highlights their evolving relationship.

Scott, 40, revealed aspects of their shared daily routine, indicating a strong mutual support system in their personal and professional lives. She articulated how both individuals actively engage in similar hobbies such as fitness, stating, “She can see what going to the gym does for me mentally, so she’ll do the same.” This reflection not only points to their emotional bond but also to a shared commitment to mental well-being through physical activity.

The couple recently celebrated Glynne’s recognition as the face of Fenty Hair by Rihanna at a glamorous event in Selfridges, where Scott opted not to be photographed with the celebrity, prioritising her girlfriend’s moment in the spotlight. Scott shared, “I love seeing [Jess] thrive,” illustrating her support and admiration for Glynne’s achievements.

However, amidst their personal happiness, Scott is reportedly facing professional challenges. Sources indicate that she has been “deeply hurt” by a perceived lack of support from her employer regarding criticism received over the viewing figures for her show Football Focus. With her contract with the BBC due for renewal next year, Scott is said to be exploring various opportunities, including a possible move to the United States, alongside Glynne.

In addition to her work on Football Focus, Scott has stepped down from her role as the host for Children in Need, with Rochelle Humes and Vernon Kay set to take over this year. Observers have noted that while this was a mutually agreeable decision, it signifies a significant transition as Scott reflects on new projects and directions in her career.

The relationship between Scott and Glynne first gained public attention in October 2023, although the pair had been linked romantically for several months prior. Initially, they chose to keep their relationship low-profile, with Scott stating, “It took us a while because we knew what we have is so special.” Their decision to maintain privacy demonstrates their desire to protect their connection, which they believe is unique.

In a charming recount of their first meeting, Scott recalled an awkward moment when she hesitated to initiate physical contact, prompting Glynne to cheekily ask, “Are you not going to put your arms around me?” This light-hearted memory reflects the genuine affection and comfort that characterises their bond.

As Scott embraces her 40s and contemplates the next chapter of her life, both she and Glynne appear to be forging a path that balances their individual careers with their burgeoning relationship. Their journey exhibits the nuances of modern love, particularly within the context of public life, where personal and professional realms often intertwine.
