The island of Ibiza is gearing up for the grand opening of UNVRS, the world’s largest nightclub, set to redefine nightlife with a capacity for 15,000 and an impressive 6,500 square metres of space.
The island of Ibiza is preparing to open the doors to what will be the world’s largest nightclub, a venue set to redefine nightlife experiences on an unprecedented scale. Named UNVRS, pronounced ‘universe’, this colossal club will be situated on the site of a former superclub and will encompass an impressive 6,500 square metres (69,940 square feet) of floorspace. This is comparable to the size of Craven Cottage, the home ground of Fulham Football Club in London.
UNVRS is slated to open in 2025 and promises to accommodate up to 15,000 club-goers at any given time, surpassing the capacity of its predecessor, which could host a maximum of 10,000 individuals. This capacity makes it possible for the entire populace of Llandudno, a seaside town in Wales, to fit within its confines, along with additional space for more than 2,000 individuals beyond the population of Whitby in Yorkshire. Similarly, the residents of Rye in East Sussex could fill the venue three times over with room left for 680 additional attendees.
The club’s predecessor was known for its expansive central arena featuring a swimming pool and towering ceilings reaching 25 metres (82 feet), complemented by several open-air rooms that provided a unique clubbing experience. UNVRS is expected to expand on these offerings significantly.
To generate anticipation ahead of its opening, UNVRS has launched an intriguing social media campaign featuring none other than renowned actor Will Smith. In the promotional content, Smith claims to have witnessed a UFO sighting and felt compelled to explore further, all from the venue’s rooftop, which sits beneath a distinctive dome design. He appears alongside the club’s owner, Yann Pissenem, in these posts designed to stir excitement for the grand opening.
Yann Pissenem, who also oversees famed Ibiza venues such as Ushuaia and HI Ibiza and serves as the CEO of The Night League—the group responsible for UNVRS’s renovation—spoke to Billboard magazine about the project. Pissenem described Hyperclub, as UNVRS is conceptually termed, as “the next evolution in global nightlife,” envisioning it as a revolutionary space that harmoniously combines the best aspects of a club, the infrastructure of an arena, and top-tier hospitality to host globally celebrated artists.
The location of UNVRS has a storied history, having once been home to Privilege in the 1970s, which was recognized as the largest nightclub in the world at the time. It later transformed into Ku Club in the 1980s, known for its extravagant open-air parties and star-studded guest list, which included notable performances by Grace Jones, Duran Duran, and Spandau Ballet.
While the official opening date has yet to be disclosed, the UNVRS website invites future guests to prepare for a groundbreaking nightlife experience, promising to “welcome everyone to our new universe in 2025.” Details and updates can be found on their dedicated TikTok page.
