Jools Lebron makes her mark at Milan Fashion Week

Jools Lebron, a rising social media influencer, captures attention at Milan Fashion Week, showcasing her unique style while embracing the ‘demure’ trend.

Jools Lebron Makes Her Mark at Milan Fashion Week

Milan, Italy – Jools Lebron, popularly known as @joolieannie, has made headlines with her debut appearance at Milan Fashion Week. The rising social media influencer, who attended her first Fashion Week show in New York City just two weeks prior, joined the front row at the illustrious Bottega Veneta show.

Lebron, a plus-size transgender woman, has gained significant attention for her vibrant personality and unique sense of style. She first went viral in August with a comedic video posted on TikTok, where she humorously mocked the term “very demure.” The video, which showcased her in a blonde wig, tight dress, bold make-up, and long acrylic nails, was filmed in her car outside a supermarket and resonated widely with audiences, propelling her to internet fame.

At Milan Fashion Week, Lebron maintained her distinctive style while embracing the “demure” trend. She wore a fitted short black dress by Bottega Veneta and carried an envelope bag from the same high-end brand. Addressing her followers in a reel for Women’s Wear Daily (WWD), Lebron expressed her excitement about attending her first fashion show in Milan, saying, “It is my very first fashion show in Milan.”

This “demure” trend, which contrasts with the more rebellious and “messy” Brat-style popularised by British pop star Charli XCX, features clean and conservative looks often in neutral tones. It’s become a favoured style, seen in collections from mainstream fashion houses such as Michael Kors, Dior, Chloé, Tommy Hilfiger, Max Mara, and Carolina Herrera.

Lebron’s video had a dual edge, both mocking and embracing the “demure” concept by presenting an overtly glamorous appearance as “very demure.” In an interview, she revealed she had been using the term ironically to describe her bold fashion choices, surprised by its sudden mass appeal. Her newly found fame has brought a slew of sponsorship deals, enabling her to continue her transition surgeries.

Her journey from working a regular job to becoming a social media sensation and influencer sitting front-row at fashion shows is a testament to the power of vibrant personal branding and the rapid pace of the internet fame cycle. For those who identify with the demure trend and can afford it, the look involves the most prim and polished styles in subtle, non-offensive tones, epitomised by labels known for their classic sophistication.

Jools Lebron’s rise in the fashion world highlights the dynamic intersection of social media and high fashion, casting a spotlight on how new narratives and influencers bring fresh perspectives into traditional fashion spaces.
