Anticipation builds for the 16th edition of the London Restaurant Festival, showcasing the capital’s diverse culinary scene from 27 September to 31 October 2024.

London Restaurant Festival 2024: A Culinary Show Returns

London, UK – Food enthusiasts and casual diners alike are eagerly anticipating the return of the London Restaurant Festival (LRF) this autumn. Running from 27 September to 31 October 2024, the festival, in partnership with American Express, promises a rich lineup of events that will showcase the diverse culinary scene of the capital. This year marks the 16th edition of the highly acclaimed festival, known for its vibrant celebration of London’s gastronomic talent.

Festival Highlights: A Feast for the Senses

Kicking off on 27 September with a grand street food event at Arcade Tottenham Court Road, the festival begins with a single-night extravaganza featuring offerings from nine food vendors, entertainment from a live DJ set, and treats from Millie’s Cookies. Priced at £16, the event, which includes a welcome cocktail from BrewDog’s Wonderland Cocktails, is sure to set the tone for a month of culinary delight.

The festival’s offerings extend beyond single events. The ‘Gastronomic Staycation’ package provides a luxurious escape with an overnight stay at the 5-star Great Scotland Yard Hotel, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Guests will enjoy dining experiences with Michelin-starred chef Phil Howard and Indian culinary legend Vivek Singh.

Among the most anticipated features are the ‘Restaurant-Hopping Tours’ that guide patrons through culinary jaunts in areas like Bond Street, Oxford Street, Marylebone Village, and Portman Marylebone. These tours provide an opportunity to sample specialty dishes paired with drinks across four unique restaurants in one evening.

Marylebone Village: A Foodie’s Haven

Marylebone Village will emerge as a central hub during the festival with an array of events that highlight global cuisines. On 2 October, the neighbourhood hosts a renowned ‘Restaurant-Hopping Tour’ with stops at beloved venues like La Fromagerie, The Italians wine bar, and 28-50.

For those seeking more exclusive experiences, select chefs will host special four-course dinners as part of the ‘Top Ten Cuisines’ series. Limor Chen from Delamina will present a Middle Eastern-inspired menu on 1 October, while Adriana Cavita of Cavita will share her heritage Mexican cuisine on 22 October. Tickets for these unique gastronomic ventures will be available from 10 September, starting at £55 per person.

Throughout October, many Marylebone Village restaurants will offer special deals and exclusive menus, making gourmet dining accessible. Offers range from complimentary glasses of prosecco and discounts on bills to signature dishes and cocktails.

Introducing New Experiences

This year sees the introduction of new experiences, including ‘The Spice Route’, celebrating Pan-Asian cuisine with evenings at Lahpet Larder and Toba. The ‘Be More Mindful’ series explores the rise of non-alcoholic beverages with activities supported by World of Hyatt. ‘An Indian Summer’ acknowledges the impressive standard of Indian cuisine in London, featuring meals at renowned establishments like Veeraswamy and the newly opened Ambassador Clubhouse.

Festival Menus: Diverse and Accessible

In collaboration with OpenTable, the London Restaurant Festival will feature exclusive ‘Festival Menus’ across over 100 restaurants in the city. These menus cater to a variety of occasions and price points, offering something for everyone from quick mid-week lunches to elaborate MICHELIN Star dinners.

Exclusive Events for American Express Members

American Express Premium Cardmembers can enjoy privileged access to events through ‘By Royal Appointment’ and ‘It Takes Two’ series. These feature dinners at regal restaurants such as Bellamy’s, The Goring Dining Room, and Julie’s, and exclusive family dynasty culinary experiences with Michel Roux Jr. and his daughter Emily Roux, and at Kitchen Table run by James Knappett and Sandia Chang. Whiskey aficionados can indulge in the ‘Spirit Masters’ series presented by The Whisky Exchange.

Highlighting London’s Culinary Innovations

In keeping with its goal to celebrate the city’s dynamic food scene, the festival will introduce attendees to London’s latest and hottest new restaurants including Kioku by Endo at The OWO and Jackson Boxer at HENRI. The ‘Gourmet Odysseys’ series will enable patrons to experience six-course tasting menus across top-tier establishments. Moreover, those interested in Scandinavian cooking can attend ‘Nordic Nights’ events featuring Michelin-starred chef Niklas Ekstedt.

A Celebration of Excellence

Chris Wright, Managing Partner of LRF, expressed pride in the festival’s growth and adaptation: “Our programme evolves alongside the dynamic London food scene and we’re proud to consistently celebrate a wide array of cuisines and restaurants.” The London Restaurant Festival offers an extensive range of experiences that reflect the city’s status as a global culinary hub, from gourmet street food to fine dining.

As London continues to be recognised as one of the world’s great food cities, the London Restaurant Festival remains a pivotal event. It brings together gourmet lovers, distinguished chefs, and extraordinary restaurants in a city-wide celebration of culinary excellence.

For those looking to explore London’s extraordinary culinary landscape, the 2024 London Restaurant Festival presents an unmissable month of epicurean delight in the capital.
