Victoria’s Secret Marks a Milestone as Alex Consani and Valentina Sampaio Become First Openly Trans Models on the Runway

The iconic Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show made its grand return with transgender models Alex Consani and Valentina Sampaio making history, as the brand commits to a more inclusive future.

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show made a triumphant return on 15 October 2025, at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York City, marking a historic moment in its illustrious legacy. This grand event, known for its extravagant displays and a long history of criticism regarding inclusivity, saw two of its models, Alex Consani and Valentina Sampaio, make history as the first transgender models to grace its runway.

After a five-year intermission, Victoria’s Secret’s runway event has been reimagined. The show faced cancellation in 2019 due to widespread criticism over its lack of inclusivity and the image it portrayed. However, the iconic brand reintroduced the show last year, yet this year represented a return to its roots with the classic runway format aired on television, while also being accessible on streaming platform, Prime Video.

Alex Consani stepped onto the runway in a stunning outfit that captured the essence of the show’s traditional glamour while pushing the boundaries of modern fashion. She was dressed in a sleeveless bra top embellished with sequins, sporting a scoop neckline and cropped hem that showcased her midriff. This was matched with bikini bottoms adorned with embellishments, a stylish waist chain, and star-studded blue wings, all completed by a pair of silver stilettos.

Valentina Sampaio, another trailblazer of the evening, captivated audiences with her elegant black bikini set. Her attire consisted of a sequinned bralette and high-cut bottoms, complemented by a black mesh skirt. The outfit was further enhanced by crystal-embellished stilettos, hoop earrings, and the characteristic Victoria’s Secret wings, styled with exaggerated black bows.

Ahead of the 2024 runway show, Victoria’s Secret had committed to transforming the event into one that better reflects contemporary values and the diversity of its audience. The company promised to deliver an experience filled with glamour, entertainment, and fashion. The reimagined show was hailed as a “women-led articulation of this iconic property,” signifying a significant shift in the company’s approach.

These events signify an important evolutionary step for the fashion industry, particularly for a brand that has been a cultural symbol for years. By embracing diversity and including more representative voices, Victoria’s Secret has signalled its intention to align more closely with the progressive values that resonate with today’s customers. The historic participation of Consani and Sampaio showcased not just the glamour but also the progressive ethos the event aimed to achieve.
